sweet fellowship around food!

February 24, 2010

today was one of the (many) reminders of why i love being able to be a stay-at-home, homeschool mama! i had 2 precious friends over for lunch (one with her daughters – also homeschooled).

some background: i love to cook! i find such satisfaction in preparing whole, nourishing food for family and friends. it is a gift to have the time and energy to be able to pursue this more deeply, finally.

i also love to serve, with food; to love, with food! and i am slowly, finally(!), learning to really let go of “perfection” and to invite people in… to our very humble and modest abode, that is not perfectly clean or fashionably decorated.

but it doesn’t matter. i continue to be reminded that what matters most is people … loving people! GOD redeems the rest. =)

so this morning, i prepared chicken and rice soup, some homemade whole wheat crackers, and gluten-free brownies. we also had fresh grapes!

it was so wonderful to sit around bowls of hot soup, talking and enjoying being together.
