homemade crackers

these were SO easy to make and tasted delish! what a great replacement for the store bought, processed crackers.

this recipe is adapted from “Super Baby Food” by Ruth Yaron – a *wealth* of incredible information, recipes and ideas.

whole wheat crackers

1 cup whole wheat flour

generous sprinkling of nutritional yeast

sea salt

4 tbsp melted coconut oil

combine above ingredients, then add 3-4 tbsp very cold water, a little at a time, until the consistency is similar to pie crust. refrigerate up to an hour to cool. roll dough out (i rolled on floured surface) to very thin – the recipe says 1/8-1/4 inch thick. cut in to squares, and place on oiled cookie sheet (i used coconut oil). use a fork to prick air holes all the way through the crackers. bake at 350 for 8ish minutes.

cool and place in a fun jar!

i plan to make other variations … with different savory seasonings and herbs, and also a sweeter one perhaps with cinnamon and stevia? i want to use other flour options, including gf, kamut, perhaps spelt. the options are endless!
